Volcanoes Procedure Writing

This term we have all been learning about Volcanoes and the different rocks that are formed in different types of eruptions. We have also learnt how to write a piece of procedure writing.

This week we went up to Room 4 with a piece of procedure writing. We all got into groups with our buddies and were each given some a plate and a paper cup.


We then were given some sand. We had to build up the sand around our cups. The cup acted as the crater in our volcano. To help the sand stick we used some water. 








Then Miss Mules came around with some baking soda and placed it in our cups. Miss Spencer then came and put some food colouring in our cups. Then we added the white vinegar. This caused a chemical reaction which acted as the magma inside the volcano bubbling then the lava when it dribbled down the side. 

We discovered that the faster you poured the vinegar the better reaction you had. 









Then we took our cups out and were able to look at our volcanoes we had made. 


We had lots of fun and enjoyed working with Miss Spencer and Room 4.

    the volcano were really cool to watch a erouption in a class room. it felt like we were looking at a real volcano

    That was really fun doing a experiment about volcanoes and making them with sand it was really fun doing it with you Room 4!:)

    that was so cool like i was personally trying to get my buddy to have a go but she said no, like HOW could you say no to that but it was extraordinary and fascinating but when the fake lava came out it was tremendous and spectacular <3 =l
