More Butterflies

This morning we came to school and noticed that our last 3 chrysalis' were very dark and we could definitely see the patterns of the wings from inside the chrysalis.

One of our chrysalis' all black and showing the monarch butterfly patterns coming through.

Our other 2 chrysalis' all black as well.

Room 15 waited so patiently until they would hatch. It seemed to take a very long time.

Finally at second lunch we found this.

You can see all of its wings crinkled up from coming out of the chrysalis.

In this picture you can see that the butterfly is still very new by the look of its wings.

One of our butterflies went for a walk down to the bottom of the planter box. Maybe it thought it would be able to dry its wings better.

Thank you Charlotte for pointing out where our 3 butterflies were resting and drying their wings before they took off for their first flight.

Our last butterfly to hatch.

Miss Mules had to save the one that went in the dirt as it had blown over on to its side.

And that is the end of our butterflies for now. We successfully had 6 butterflies hatch and fly into the wild to add to their population.

We have had great fun learning about the different stages of the Monarch Butterfly.

Room 15 what was the most interesting thing you learnt about the Monarch Butterfly?
